Client Matter ID
The Client Matter ID is a unique identifier you assign when setting up a matter. It helps keep work organized by linking all related tasks, documents, and billing records back to the right matter, making it easier for teams to stay aligned. It may be configured as required or left optional.
There are two option to add the Client Matter ID:
Add the Client Matter ID when initially creating the matter
2. Add the Client Matter ID to an existing matter by using the option to "Rename" the Matter
Customize the Client Matter ID Label
The Client Matter ID field can be customized by admins, making it easy to adopt the terminology your team uses every day. From ‘Billing ID’ to ‘Engagement Number,’ this flexibility promotes consistent language and greater clarity across the organization
To customize the Client Matter ID:
Go to Security and config settings
Go to Customize client matter ID label and select Custom
Enter your preferred label and save
See your custom label applied anywhere the Client Matter ID appears during matter creation
This means your platform language now matches the way your team talks, making processes smoother and more intuitive.
Custom Matter Field
As needed, you can also add an entirely new custom field that can be used during matter creation, making it easy to capture additional structured data such as ‘Client Name,’ ‘Jurisdiction,’ or other firm-specific details. This feature allows you to record key information at the moment a matter is created, include it in data management and export processes for more accurate reporting and analysis, and tailor the field label to match your team’s exact needs.
To enable it:
Go to Security and config
Turn the Toggle on for Create a custom matter field
If you want to make it mandatory turn on the toggle for Mandatory custom matter field
Go to Customize matter field and Custom
This feature makes it easier to capture the right information at the right time, giving you more control over your data and how it’s used downstream.
Data is displayed and can be analyzed based on the corresponding labels applied in the Usage table and Data management.
